Notes about the text: The cantata is divided into five sections, which include 1. "In the Bleak Midwinter"; 2. "Our God"; 3. "Before Whom Angels Bow"; 4. "Angels and Archangels"; 5. "Alleluia and Chorale." Rossetti's text is used with occasional paraphrasing and frequent repetition across the various voices. The final stanza of the poem is included as a chorale following the Alleluia chorus of the final section.
