Composition history: This is the second of two different musical settings of Rossetti's poem "Echo" by composer Daniel Steven Crafts. When asked to comment on what motivated him to write two different settings of "Echo," Crafts responded: "Bittersweet Dreams was written first. Here I wanted to emphasize the almost mystical, otherworldly sense of the words to begin the sequence. Love's Kaleidoscope presents the subject of romance from many historical viewpoints and attitudes, and here I wanted to bring out more of the sense of longing in the poem." (Crafts)
Tempo markings: "Sognante"; quarter note = 54
Performance instructions: The song cycle is "For Tenor and Soprano | String Orchestra, or Piano reduction"
