Performance instructions: The composer offers this note in regards to the collection: "These short pieces can be used in a variety of ways - as preludes, offertories or postludes certainly. I think of them more in connection with introducing the congregational song [...] Regarding registration: be creative! Registrations provided are suggested, but each instrument and space are different. I love exploring different octaves to squeeze more out of an individual stop (try a 4' flute down an octave for a different 8 flute color). I love combinations that have a wide span in them: 16' flute with 1' flute; or 8', 2', and 1' flutes (which can be created by 16', 8', and 2' flutes, played an octave higher...); or coupling interesting combinations together like 1 1/3 flute with the Krummhorn. Throw convention into the wind, and explore what you have, no matter how 'small'" (Cherwien).
