Description
Rossetti poem(s): "'A ring upon her finger'"
Composition history: Daubney notes that he included several "hidden motifs" within the music: "both the fragments I’ve used were written in 1842 (Mendelssohn Wedding March from Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Wagner’s Bridal Chorus (Bridal Chorus Lohengrin 1850) during Christina’s lifetime. It seemed appropriate to the words to include these two in the setting of the poem about Bride and Groom. I’m not sure they’re used in Canada in the same way but they feature in many weddings in the UK. They are concealed (mainly) in the bass part" (Daubney).
Tempo markings: "Andante"
