Description
Rossetti poem(s): "'Who has seen the wind?'"
Place in the larger work: Second song of three in a song cycle called "Wind songs" which includes 1. "Blow, Wind, Blow" (Mother Goose); 2. "Who Has Seen the Wind" (Christina Rossetti); 3. "Go Wind" (Lilian Moore). In the 2010 version, the third song was replaced by "Windy Day" (Ruth Watson Henderson).
Composition history: "Commissioned by the Mississauga Children's Choir and their conductor Thomas Bell."
Tempo markings: "Andante"; quarter note = 100
Notes: In the 2010 publication for three-part women's chorus (SSA), "'Who Has Seen the Wind' and 'Windy Day' are written in two parts, with each echoing words and phrases between one another while the piano accompaniment illustrates the wind's movements. 'Blow, Wind, Blow' is a fast round in three parts that gives choirs a chance to show off their excellent diction." (Record for "Wind Songs")
