Rossetti's poem "A Christmas Carol ("In the the bleak mid-winter") was first published in January 1872, volume 3, issue 3 of "Scribner's Monthly: An Illustrated Magazine for the People," "an illustrated American literary periodical published from 1870 until 1881.
