Composition history: "Rossetti's poems are strong in ideology and it is hoped the music simply highlights the thoughts and feelings of the writer as she paints a sad but also positive picture of life after grief. This setting was originally written for 'The Harry Ensemble' choir, UK, to be performed as part of their 2020 tour of Tuscany: the tour was cancelled as a result of the global COVID-19 pandemic" ("Edward-Rhys Harry: Song").
