Browse Musical Settings by Instrumentation
Instrumentation includes all instruments and/or ensembles (including those listed as optional) that are included in the score.
Notes
- If an instrument is listed for rehearsal only, then the instrument is specified as such (ex.: “piano for rehearsal only”).
- “keyboard” is only used when the score does not specify which kind of keyboard (piano, organ, harpsichord). The term “piano” is used for pianoforte.
- The individual instruments in an “orchestra” are not listed in instrumentation, but can be found in the Performance Instructions section in the Description field, if known. For ensembles of four or fewer instruments, the individual instruments as well as the ensemble are identified in instrumentation.
- Optional instruments are found here and specified in the Performance Instructions section in the Description
- “a cappella” is used for songs that have no instrumental accompaniment at all in performance. Any instruments listed for rehearsal only, such as "piano for rehearsal only,” are listed.
