BONNET reports GREW's off-the-record talk to reporters about DE GALLE'S refusal to meet ROOSEVELT at Algiers on the way back from Yalta. According to GREW, the President was astonished at this attitude, because BIDAULT had told CAPPERY that the General would be delighted to see ROOSEVELT (but gave no suggestion as to place or date). The American invitation to Algiers was extended in reply to this communication.

D'après certaines nouvelles de presse, le Président ROOSEVELT aurait envoyé à Moscou M. FLYEN pour y tenter une médiation entre le Saint-Siège et l'U.R.S.S.

Interrogé à ce sujet par notre représentant au Vatican, Monseigneur TARDINI a répondu qu'il n'avait connaissance d'aucune initiative de ce genre prise par le Président des E.U.
