## 21131-21134 (Summary)
**No 177.** London 1492, Ankara 204, Chungking 174.
M. HOFFENOT has been instructed by General DE GAULLE to inform President ROOSEVELT that he is prepared to go to Washington to discuss with him problems of common interest to France and the U.S. He was further instructed to enquire what subjects the President desired to discuss, and to make it clear that General DE GAULLE would bring no specific requests or demands, believing that the "practical economy" of Franco-American relations is more important and urgent than the question of recognition.
