- 2. Membership and duties of the price commissions.
Representatives of production and of public
publics and military departments concerned, notably the customs
administration), are represented on these commissions. With a
view to --1M-- ratification of prices, the local commissions are entrusted
with the investigation of illegal price-raising cases before their
presentation to the local chief administrative officer.
Matters of a particularly serious nature are
turned over by the central price commission to the special criminal
court established by the law of 17 September, 1941 modifying the law
of 23 June 1941 promulgated (71n7) Indo-China 28 June 1941 --3--
economic police --3M-- (Part 2). The economic police at the office of each
(9branch?) of the criminal investigation department comes under a
special section for suppressing black market activities --10-- under the
direction of a commissioner of the criminal investigation department
assisted in the provinces by commissioners and assistant commissioners.
The force in Tonking consists of 8 Europeans, 12 Indo-Chinese (727)
Annamese (7and 57) Cochinchinese and 10 Cambodians --4M-- 4 and --7M--
information (7upon?) decrees sanctioning the keeping in stock and the
buying up of stocks --3-- manoeuvres interfering with the supplying
of the colony.
In each region the control of prices is the
responsibility of:
A. Special administrative officials or recruited
agents at the disposal of the presidents of the local price commissions.
B. Specially empowered officials or collectors from
various administrations --E-- Customs, Goods and Forests, Railroads,
or monopolies --3-- in a general way --3--.
