I have been advised that Algiers representatives intended to establish themselves in the Taverna Palace as they did in the Farnese Palace and in the Villa Medici. The plan had already started to be put into effect when it became known to me. As the seat of the Embassy in the city is under the protection of the Holy See, I made the necessary complaints and protests to the State Chancery.
