2-part message complete
It appears from a recent statement issued by the German
Amaistice Commission that the German lawyer LOEWER KUHN was
replaced by Mr. KRAUD, and that Professor CROZAT would like
to be relieved of his mission.
Under these conditions, the German Amnistice Commission
considers it opportune to revise the arrangements made pre-
viously with regard to the appointment of lawyers, and it
"recommends" the appointment, as a substitute for Mr. CROZAT
of Mr. STEPHENSON, who would be provided with the proxy of
(Yyour?) SPIND.
Our consul (Part 2) approves this solution. The German
Commission, in spite of the opposition of the SPIND states that
it was advised by Mr. CROZAT himself in the course of a conver-
sation he had with regard to Mr. LOEWER, which he confirmed to
you by letter of 5 May.
I shall be grateful if you will wire me whether it is true
that Mr. CROZAT expressed a desire to relinquish his position,
and in that case inform me whether there is not in Istanbul
aside from Mr. STEPHENSON, another lawyer to whom the interests
of the SPIND could be entrusted.
