No 498, 499 (2 Part message complete)
Mr. DUPOUR has asked me to transmit to you the following telegrams:
(9989) are continuing (thermal telegraphic?) functions --80-- we are relying on information broadcast by Indo-China completing (9119) as do other agencies by listening in on various posts. I expect to forward to you regularly news --8-- edited so as to assure the maximum output of the various services of the listening posts. (9Here is the first résumé?) --80-- PETAIN, FIERRE LAVAL, SHIDOUK, prisoners at Morvillard. PETAIN informed --90-- Germans violate the Armistice by preventing him --8-- exercise (this?) duties by forcing him to leave Vichy. The French Representatives in Berne, at the Vatican, in Madrid, Stockholm, Ankara stated that they consider --8-- their mission ended because it is impossible for PETAIN to exercise his duties. BERGERY cabled DE GAULLE, putting himself at the latter's disposal as he is the only legal French authority, and requesting immediate instructions. There was no reference to PETAIN and LAVAL in DE GAULLE's speech in Paris.
