Messages Nos. 250, 251.
"La Presse" here sees in the armistice of --- the success of "an unhappy but necessary undertaking" against the menace of Nazi infiltration (in Syria); the vacillation of (France ?) shows more than (anything else ?) the strength of the German threat against (democracy ?). The English language papers insist on the (wisdom) of the terms of the armistice which has avoided wounding French (pride ?) thus terminating, they add, this terrible war between Frenchmen not without honour to both sides. Thanks to the handing over of the administration of the country to de Gaulle, the Free French movement will gain prestige and will be able to recruit --- it is fortunate that the need for breaking with Vichy has been (avoided ?). The French language papers show their satisfaction at the conclusion of the conflict and some render homage to the "Struggle ---" of our (brothers ?).
