The French-language press is calmer. Nevertheless "----" of Quebec speaks of the "(humiliation ?) which Marshal Petein has brought upon France", concluding that the rupture was logical. "Le Devoir" of Montreal says that the speech "will lose its meaning with the passage of time" but adds that nonetheless the reaction at the moment is clearly apparent. Again, the nonofficial "Canada" concludes that "this declaration has given rise to (unfortunate ?) comments throughout the English-speaking world. ----- ----- Looking toward the future, one may prophesy that the tribulation of that unhappy country will eventually be set right".
