Message No. 418.
I am bound to insist on petitioning for the subvention which was promised for the construction of Stanislas College. My duty obliges me to point out that further delay will endanger the advantage which is to be gained from our gesture of good will: the more so, on account of recent events. The Stanislas College business can be of propaganda value to us. It is particularly difficult to explain in Montreal why neither the sum of money promised on August 20 (cf. your telegram No. 1842) nor the annual subvention which Canon MEYECARE affirmed in October was on the way, have arrived.
HISTHLHUBER.
