Description

This is a CHUM chart from April Fool's Day, 1963. This record chart brochure shows the most popular songs in Canada from this time, and features Jackie Shane with the second most popular song, "Any Other Way." This is monumental as an openly Queer person was able to popularize a song so much so that it garnered national sucess. The CHUM Chart was one of Torontos earliest, as well as a competitor for the RPM Weekly, which had started in 1964. The CHUM Charts were similar to the RPM charts, as they were both national surverys for radios to play what was the most popular at the time. As RPM had not existed in 1963, this was the main record chart in Toronto.
