Description

Club Bluenote was a popular music venue that had opened up in the late 1950s and gained popularity during the 1960s, where performers such as Dianne Brooks and Shirley Matthews would often frequent and perform at. Kay Taylor and the Regents were the house band, and Shirley Matthews would often sing with them. The typical performers here would be performers who emulated a Motown-blues sound. The club would be incredibly busy at night and would remain open until 3-4AM. Bigger artists who performed in Toronto would come to visit after their performances to see local talent. In 1969, Club Bluenote had closed down, but would eventually open again, this time in Yorkville.
