Description

Richard Preson was an incredible important person for the development and growth of the Black Baptist Church. As a former slave from Virginia who had been a preacher on the plantations, he knew he wanted to continue to do that work when he bought his freedom and came to Nova Scotia. From 1832 to 1845 Preston established eleven Black Baptist churches throughout the province and founded the African United Baptist Association (AUBA).
