Description
This is Roger McTair's documentary called Journey to Justice and it was released in the year 2000. It is about six huge names in Black Canadian history and highlights their stories with segregation, discrimination, racial profiling and more. This documentary digs deep into the side of Canada many are not aware of or choose to forget about. It highlights the trials that Black folks in the past have faced to simply have basic human rights. This documentary shows its viewers the dark history of Canada, and how there is more healing to be done than known. The documentary is also another form of activism and gives a voice to those who had theirs taken away from them. This piece is significant because it was one of the times someone tried to call Canada out, and hold them accountable instead of having them as a sliver in a focus of broader stories. The cover is significant because it puts faces to names that many may not recognize, but surely will after the documentary.
