Short 1860 newspaper report describing the preliminary hearing of John Anderson (also known as Jack Burton), who was accused of killing S.T.P. Diggs in Missouri and arrested in Simcoe. The article summarizes the extradition proceedings, witness testimony, and the legal actions taken by counsel Mr. Freeman, Q.C. The case was adjourned for further examination later that evening.
