Black composer, jazz pianist, arranger and conductor Billy Childs comosed "Four Portraits for Violin" on commission from Rachel Barton Pine. The premiere took place in 2017 by Rachel Barton Pine at the University of Kentucky.
The work contains four movements:
1. Prelude and Allegro
2. Adagio Lirico
3. Pavane
4. Gigue.
