Father Dion was elected Procurator general to the Holy See. In that, he would have many administrative roles. Father Dion would develop relationships with the Vatican. He would do this by representing the superior-general on central administration at the Vatican meetings. He would also promote awareness of the missionary vocations. Another role of the Procurator general is to develop relationships with diplomatic entities. Another key role is to promote funding and aid for organizations. These are some of the many roles as the Procurator General.

Biographical Text

Dion, Georges-Auguste was born the youngest of 12 children in the year 1852 in Saint-Pierre-de-la-Rivière-du-Sud. He began his classical studies in 1852 and was ordained priest In 1876. Fathers Dion’s whole life would be dedicated to God and his community. In 1892 Father Dion was elected Procurator General to the Holy See in Rome, Italy. He would now have a very complex and high profile job overseeing financial affairs and having administrative powers. During this time, it was noted in Father Dions journals that he loved the culture and lifestyle of Rome. While overseas he found out he wanted to supplement his involvement even more. In that, Father Dion began engaging in a ministry of nuns in France by writing for a local magazine weekly. In 1896 Father Dion’s time in Rome was done and he was sent back to Quebec in urgency.
