In the afternoon Marie Max + I with our other Preston friends went on a trip up the [Kas_____ ____] to Point [Meurum]. The steamer was rather too crowded to be comfortable. Having Mt. McKay for a landmark it gave us an opportunity for [noticing] the extreme tortuous course of the river. We returned at of 7 P.M. after a 30 mile cruise. [A____] transit at night Marie + Max were with me, also Mr. a. L. Russell.
