Description
Maurice Sendak was a picturebook author and illustrator. He received many awards, including the Caldecott Medal in 1964, the Hans Christian Andersen Award in 1970, and the National Medal of Arts in 1996. He co-authored and collaborated with numerous authors. He illustrated over 100 books, and his own books have sold over 50 million copies. He also worked as a costume and set designer. Since his death, the Maurice Sendak Foundation continues to publish new editions of his picture books.
