Modern Mexican History

Here is the culminating research projects from the seminar Problems in Modern Mexican History: Inequality, Migration, and Security.

Structured around four thematic modules, the course guided students through critical historical moments—from independence to the present—that have shaped Mexico’s national identity, social fabric, and transnational challenges, particularly the entanglement of borders, security, and forced migration.

As part of the seminar, students engaged in two key research activities: curating primary sources and developing original digital exhibitions. Each project explores pressing issues of inequality, migration, and security in 20th- and 21st-century Mexico, offering fresh perspectives on the country’s complex and contested histories.

More to come before July 2025.
