Description
Rossetti poem(s): "Echo"
Composition history: In the front matter of the score, the composer writes about Christina Rossetti and the need to create beauty: "One of the best reasons to sing, paint, dance, write poetry - "to make art" - is to help us find beauty and wholeness when life hands us more than we think we can handle. Christina Rossetti has done just that through her haunting, poignant poem 'Echo'. [...] There is a sense of melancholy and longing for something that can never come back. Yet through that longing, she has written something truly heartfelt, beautiful and relatable."
