Description
Rossetti poem(s): "'Who has seen the wind?'"
Composition history: "(By permission of Macmillan & Co.)"
Performance instructions: "(Irregular.)"
Notes: Text adapted to a 1631 work by D. Corner, a tune entitled "Spiritus" (Gooch 4870). This song was published in the "Winchester Hymn Supplement", 1928 edition by Warren & Son, Winchester. The first of two tunes to choose from. The attempt by the Winchester Diocesan Church Music Committee to offer a small collection of hymns and tunes [divided in 3 parts: (1) for adults; (2) for older children; (3) for young children ("New Music. Songs" p. 184)] in 1923 was such a large success that it justified a more substantial volume. The 1928 publication includes "123 hymns and 14 carols together with Merbecke's Communion Service, as edited by E.G.P. Wyatt and Royle Shore." (Harding, p. 152)
