4 July 1944
FAE
No. 685
From M. BARRET for the Ministry of National Economy and
Finance, Office of the Director of Foreign Trade, Vichy, with the
request that it be communicated immediately to M. VENGER.
With reference to my telegram of 29 June*, I have the
honor to inform you that in reply to my latest demarches, the forwarding
agents told me that the German railroads are no longer accepting
anything to be transported to France. One would have to communicate
--U-- general of the Ministry of Communications in the Reich. It would
be necessary then to intervene urgently with a view to the arrival of
the first "CONCORDIA" installment of 500 tons of petrolatum and later
of 500 tons of beans which will very probably be exported in exchange
for the value of the November 1943 bond.
