Message No. 297.
Referring to my telegram No. 284. From the report of M. Querin:
(1) The 12 passengers and 28 men from the Indiana and the Namur have been placed in one of the Batteries of the fort. The only ones allowed to go to the consulate were the captain of the first ship who was set free, and the captain of the second ship who was accompanied by an American.
(2) The American flag was raised over both ships.
(3) Officials have requested the Colonel in charge of the marines that the boats be sent to New York.
Message No. 298.
The Indiana and the Namur were sent to sea to-day on the order of the American authorities...
