Terminology

In working on this project there was a lot of period specific language that can be hard to parse out. In this section, I am looking to give a foundation to be able to look at the advertisements and differentiate between models and their features.

Another thing to keep in mind is the uses of some words have different connotations in this time period and do not have the same meaning that we might subscribe to them in the present. This is especially important to keep in mind with discerning gendered language. One way I have looked to mitigate any misinterpretations is using the Oxford English Dictionary which tracks the definitions of words over time.
