reflection
Looking back to when me and a bunch of random people had sat down in the old Marion classroom and I had only sort of recognized some people in the class from my other classes, compared to when everyone was seated in the CRX classroom for the final class, is a mind boggling task. Time really flies when you are having a great time.
Now knowing these people that I have met in prof Mathieu's class has done me a great service, to the point where I might not have done nearly well in many of my other classes because I can study with these new friends. One thing I am proud of having developed in my time here is my social skills and the ability to make friends with these amazing people, I think that I owe that both to prof Mathieu and her class setting.
My skills as a researcher have come along so far, I could not have possibly imagined learning this much in one semester and going through this much progress to my ability to adapt to change in a workspace, even with things such as a time constraint. I was super nervous about our first project, the slave ad one, but when we got to it, it was super fun and made me want to do more of it, which for a school project is pretty insane.
This class has made me feel so much more confident for my future classes because of the work that has made me develop the ability to think critically and use my imagination for the study of things that I would not have even been able to dream of before this semester. I have learned a lot about how shockingly bad Canada was during the time of slavery and how we try to cover it up and not show that side of our country to the world. Because of my new understanding of our country, I can show my family my new knowledge and give them an idea of what Canada was like during the time of slaver, which is fun for me because I thoroughly enjoy teaching people about history.
All in all, i have learned so much about our history as a country and developed so much as both a researcher and my ability to adapt to change. The challenges that I have faced in this class I would not have thought were even remotely solvable, yet we managed to push through and find the solutions to the problems that we were faced with.
