For about 300 years, Egypt was a major colony in the Roman Empire. The colony’s importance is often attributed to the large export of grain and other crops to the rest of the Empire. The artefacts in this collection demonstrate both Egyptian culture before colonization, and the cultural exchange between Egypt and the Roman empire.
Pendant environ 300 ans, l’Égypte a été une colonie majeure dans l’Empire romain. L’importance de la colonie est souvent attribuée à l’exportation substantielle du grain et d’autres cultures vers le reste de l’Empire. Les artefacts dans cette collection représentent à la fois la culture égyptienne avant la colonisation et les échanges culturels entre l’Égypte et l’Empire romain.
