Loom Weights in Apulia

  • This exhibit focuses on loom weights from a collection gifted to the museum by Maria Verbena Donati Jenkins of Ottawa in 2014. In the exhibit, Curator Antonia Holden looks to contextualize the objects by doing a deep dive into the history of loom weights and their role in Peucetian culture.

Egyptian Material Culture

  • This exhibit highlights a selection of artefacts related to Egyptian culture. Though some of these objects are likely Roman or Greek in origin, each piece reflects the influence of Egyptian styles and ideas.

Extended Artefact Features

  • A selection of mini-exhibits on single artefacts in the collection that have been researched by student volunteers and staff.

A Timeline of Roman Imperial Coins

  • This exhibit is a compilation of over forty Roman coins catalogued by students of the University of Ottawa. Each entry describes and analyses the coin's message and meaning in detail.

Writing and Languages

  • This exhibit highlights a selection of artefacts related to the evolution of writing and languages from the dawn of civilization in the ancient Near East up to the modern day.

Ancient Weaponry

  • This exhibit highlights a selection of artefacts related to the history of warfare, with a focus on associated technological developments

Architecture

  • This exhibit highlights a selection of artefacts related to the various feats of architecture from the world of the Greeks and Romans.

Gods and Religions

  • This exhibit highlights a selection of artefacts relating to the pantheon of Greek and Roman gods and physical methods of worship.
