Description
Persian composer Behzad Ranjbaran was born in Tehran, Iran. He studied at the Rehran Music Conservatory. He immigrated to the USA in 1974, studying at Indiana University and later The Juilliard School, where he earned a DMA in Composition. His music is strongly rooted in Neo-Romanticism of the late 20th century, drawing from his cutlural roots by incorporating Persian musical modes and rhythms. He composed this "Ballade" for unaccompanied contrabass. It was commissioned by the International Society of Bassists.
