The caricature was first published in Bengough's magazine 'Grip'. He states in the publication, "A Caricature History of Canadian Politics: Events from the Union of 1841": This was an allusion to the opening of Parliament on February 13th prox., and the questions then to be brought forward. The principal matters anticipated were the introduction of the promised National Policy; the settlement of the Letellier difficulty and the C.P. Railway.
