CHAPPELL & Co LTD. Was founded in 1810 by Samuel Chappell, who partnered with music professors Francis Tatton Latour and Johann Baptist Cramer. The firm was a large location, which featured musical instruments and sheet music. The firm’s reputation grew fast and was passed down from son to son. After Thomas Patey Chappell took charge, he focused on music publication and concert promotion, but later started manufacturing pianos in the 1840s. Chappell continued to publish music and sell pianos until 1987 when he partenered Warner Bros. Records and created Warner/Chappell Music.
