Warner Music Group

Jack Warner founded Warner Bros. Records at the end of the silent movie era to expand into music publishing and recording. In 1963, Reprise Records, founded by Frank Sinatra and run by Mo Ostin, merged with Warner Bros. Records. Seven Arts then bought Warner Bros. Studios and renamed the company Warner Seven Arts. In 1969, Kineey National Co. acquired Warner Seven Arts. Shortly after, Kinney National became Warner Communications and formed Warner Elektra Atlantic (the WEA Corp), the first major music distribution company.  After purchasing large music companies such as Asylum records and Sire Records, WEA Corp. now known as Warner Music Group, merges with Chappell & Co LTD in 1987. Warner Music Group continued to thrive in the music industry selling its records for the first time in 2004 on iTunes.
