Born in Toronto in 1940, Indigo is now Canada's largest bookstore chain. On a wintery day in January, 2022, we went to the back of Indigo, Innes, which had a section dedicated to children's picture books and novels.
The book display that caught our eye featured popular children’s picture books from animated cartoons and classic television adaptations. We wanted to see whether popular children's picture books were diverse in their representation of characters and creators.
