Children's Books at Indigo, Innes

This book display comes from Indigo on Innes Road in Orleans. The display is called "All Are Welcome."

The Selection Process

Indigo claims to be committed to broadening its representation. They pledge "to allocate 15% of their shelf space to BIPOC-owned business," and by the next two to five years, they want to have at least "23% of the books on display" to be written by BIPOC authors. ("Diversity and Inclusion," Indigo).

Therefore, as a group, we wanted to analyze the types of diversity that could be found in children's and middle-grade books at this store. We did decide to choose a display that promoted diversity in its name to see the forms of diversity that would take place within the books and in the authors and illustrators. To see our findings, go to the what we found page.

This display is interactive! Hover over them to see the name of the book; click the book to see the cataloging information. The books in pink are our individual pitches. To know more about these books you can visit each book's pitch page.
