- I was (doubtful ?) of his good faith having asked to see the Prime Minister and hear from his lips the details of the non-participation of Canada in the 'coup de force' on Saint Pierre, and Miquelon. In this connection, I learn that he is leaving immediately for Washington (although his departure had been planned for tomorrow).
I am sending a note to the Under-Secretary of State summarizing the arguments which I believe will appeal to him and asking that it be forwarded to the Prime Minister so that it should be discussed in his conversations with Mr. CHURCHILL and ROOSEVELT.
Insist on the fact that, the "VILLEDYS" having just (arrived in ?) Saint Pierre from Canada, the latter thus assumed the moral responsibility for enforcing respect for the sovereignty of the island.
