Description

Obverse legend: IMP(erator) GORDIANVS PIVS FEL(ix) AVG(ustus), translation: Imperator Gordianus dutiful and fortunate Augustus; laureate, draped and cuirassed bust facing right. Reverse legend: IOVIS STATOR ex S(enatus)-C(onsulto), translation: Jupiter Stator, by decree of the senate; Jupiter standing (facing front), head facing right, holding a long sceptre in right hand and thunderbolt in his left, on right. S in left field and C in right field. RIC IV.III, p. 48, no. 299.
