Description

The caricature was first published in Bengough's magazine 'Grip'. He states in the publication, "A Caricature History of Canadian Politics: Events from the Union of 1841": In the tariff as published in the 'Globe' (and afterwards authoritatively announced by the Government), the interests of the Agricultural Classes were comparatively neglected, although vast promises of "protection" has been made to the farmers before the election.
