The Shadows of the Evening Hours
Charles Lewis Harris’ work “The Shadows of the Evening Hours” is a piece intended for solo voice and piano to be performed outside of the realm of service music. This work reflects the intention of contemplative worship through both the setting (solo voice) and the choice of text. The dedication is to the Reverend John Munday of Port Huron, Michigan. Munday was the Dean of Central Convocation and Rector of Grace Church, a position he held from 1894-1926. The copyright of this work, 1917, meant that the dedication was made while the Reverend was with Grace Church in Port Huron, Michigan.
