THE SURVEY OF THE KLONDIKE GOV'T CONCESSION BY LEWIS BOLTON WAS BELIEVED TO BE THE FIRST SURVEY PERFORMED INTHE HUNKER VALLEY. HUNKER VALLEY WAS FAMOUS DURING THE GOLD RUSH OF 1898, WHEN THOUSANDS CAME TO THE KLONDIKE TO PAN FOR GOLD ALONG HUNKER CREEK (REF.1 P42)

IN 1898 TO MARK STATION 42 DURING ORIGINAL SURVEY OF KLONDIKE GOVERNMENT CONCESSION (LATER KNOWN AS ANDERSON CONCESSION). HUB RECOVERED BY T.H. HOLT, D.L.S. IN 1966 DURING A SPECIAL SURVEY OF THE CONCESSION, AND WAS REPLACED BY AN OLD-PATTERN IRON POST. OUT OF A TOTAL 103 HUBS PLACED BY BOLTON, 9 WERE FOUND. THEY WERE IN AREAS UNDISTURBED BY GOLD MINING & ALL WERE UPRIGHT, IN PERMAFROST, UNDER MOSS/ SEE ALSO 940446-940450
