Description

Obverse legend: D(ominus) N(oster) VALENTINIANVS P(ius)F(elix) AVG(ustus), translation: Our Lord Valentinian, dutiful and successful Augustus; helmeted with pearl-diadem, draped and cuirassed bust of Valentinian II facing right, holding spear and shield in front. Reverse legend: GLORIA RO-MANORVM, translation: The glory of Rome; Emperor facing front, head facing right, on ship, raising right hand, cloak flowing right, victory at helm; wreath in left field, mint mark in the exerge SMNA. RIC IX, p. 256, no. 25b.
