Our Clues: What do We Know Already?

The starting point for understanding the history of the gun barrel is the gun barrel itself, by looking at the rust on it and its weathered nature, along with the length and materials. References to the gun barrel can be found in the survey book written by R.O. Semper. He injects a lot of personal insight about the weather and it is a fun read for a technically written manual. R.O. Semper was also the one of the original men behind the Historic Monomuent Committee who originally started to collect and preserve these parts of Canadian history. The original museum file on record indicates that the date found was 1963, this is corroborated by the field book above, on the westernly border of Kingsclear and Saint Ann's Parish. It was taken from the fence and eventually sent to the museum in 1994.
