Lanx Bowl
There are many aspects of a Greek or Roman ritual that would require a vessel, whether it be for animal entrails, incense, or the pouring of libations.[1] A lanx is a type of decorated shallow bowl that would be used in a ritual or sacrificial context for this range of purposes.[2] These lanx fragments in our collection are from a square bowl due to the apparent straightness of the pieces.
The reliefs on the edge of the lanx depict a chase scene with a lion and a dog chasing a rabbit.
